Wild Animal Handler & Behaviourist
Zoologist Della Golding is an expert survival guide, a wild animal handler, animal behaviourist, animal trainer and conservationist. As a factual television presenter she shares her knowledge, experience and passion for the natural world.
Della presented the Wildpet TV series that covered all you need to know about caring for exotic pets. The series was created to encourage responsible husbandry, captive breeding, conservation and to offer general information about the keeping of exotic pets.
Della has a 'No Fear' attitude
Having spent her childhood exploring the Australian outback Della says that she has "kept that childlike ‘no-fear’ attitude" and can handle the world’s most dangerous animals. Growing up in Australia's rural areas immersed Della in many local cultures and has given her a deep understanding of the aboriginal traditions and mythologies.
As a survival expert, Della has run trips to the remote far north of Queensland teaching about the local culture and how to eat, sleep and live in such a harsh environment.
Della Golding qualified whilst working full time with some of the world's leading wildlife experts. She was a wildlife ranger in the jungles and outback of Australia for The Australian Government’s Environmental Protection Agency, focusing on the monitoring, relocation and rehabilitation of Australian wildlife. This included the Australian Government's East Coast Crocodile Management Programme, the same programme the late Steve Irwin was part of.
The Zoological Society of London recruited Delia for her skill and experience in handling, training and rehabilitating wild animals. Her role was to work on conservation projects training animals to adapt to captive environments and rehabilitation for release.
