BBC Two’s “Chris Packham: In Search of the Lost Girl”,  follows TV presenter and wildlife photographer Chris Packham in his search to find the girl in this photo he took in July 1998 whilst in Sumatra. In this real-life detective story, with no clues as to her identity or whereabouts other than his original photograph, Chris sets off to Sumatra 20 years on to try to find her; the girl in the picture.

The hunter gatherer Orang Rimba (Kubu) tribe, living in perfect harmony with nature in the rainforests of Sumatra, had a profound impact on his life and 20 years later Chris returns to find out what had become of the girl and her tribe.
